Newtown, PA - Gordon Lennox Pinney, 92, formerly of Voorheesville, passed away on January 8, 2026 in Newtown, PA.

Gordon was born in Rensselaer, NY to Marion Lennox and Edward Pinney on June 2, 1933.  He grew up in East Greenbush, NY, and attended Columbia High School. Gordon enlisted in the US Navy in 1951, was stationed in Norfolk, VA, and served as a Boilerman 3rd Class aboard the USS Missouri during the Korean War (1952-1953).  Gordon married Lettie Mae Newell in 1953, and following discharge from the Navy in 1954, they returned to New York state.  In 1961, Gordon and Lettie purchased a home in Voorheesville, NY, where they lived for more than 50 yrs. 

He was employed in the glass business at Dave’s Glass, as a car mechanic at New Salem Garage, and finally, as lead bus mechanic for the Voorheesville Central School District. He was active in the community, serving in the New Salem Volunteer Fire Dept., rising to the rank of Chief; delivering for Meals on Wheels, and serving as a worker and board member for the New Scotland Community Food Pantry.

Gordon enjoyed many hobbies, including polka and square dancing with Lettie; card games, hunting, fishing, skeet shooting, and horseshoes with his buddies; and camping trips with friends and family, teaching his grandchildren how to make campfires, whittle sticks, and cook over the fire.  In earlier years, he was a Little League umpire and participated in stock car racing. Gordon was an all-around handyman, fixer, and builder, always willing to assist those who needed a hand.

Gordon is survived by his wife of 72 yrs, Lettie (Newtown, PA); daughters Carole Schultz (David) of Liverpool, NY; and Diane Belezos (William) of Yardley, PA; and son Allen Pinney (Lisa) of Yardley, PA.  Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive him. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Marion (Lennox), his brother Allen, and his sisters, Loretta Nelson and Marion Headley. 

A memorial service will be held in Voorheesville later in the year at the convenience of the family.
