Altamont - Edward John Ruede, Sr., 81, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness.  Born in Albany on February 6, 1944, Ed was the son of the late Arthur and Buelah VanAlstyne Ruede.  He began his career at Ruede Electric in Albany and retired from the IBEW Local 236 in 2004 after working on too many buildings in Albany to mention, including the Pepsi Arena.  He had an unending love for animals, especially puppies and was a huge Elvis Presley fan.

Ed was the beloved husband of Regina Ruede.  He was the father of E.J. Ruede (Raebeth), Michael Ruede (Tina), Craig Ruede (Melissa) and Sandy Ruede Lindheimer; stepfather of Angela Borzon, Edward Borzon (Kristen), Alison Batcher (Mike) and Chrissy Thompson (Jon); and brother of Art Ruede and the late Audrey Traver.  He was also the proud grandpa of Brittany, Michael, Scott, Haley, Darien, Caitlin, Aimee, Jack, Levi, Ab, Eddie, Will, Holly and Jonny and great-grandpa of Gracelyn, Antonia, Ella, Annie, Elizabeth and Gus. He was predeceased by his first wife of 37 years, Geraldine “Geri”.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, 1200 Central Ave., Colonie on Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 would be appreciated.
