Obituary of Michele A. McGinn

Colonie - Michele A. McGinn, 71, passed away on April 20, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

A lifelong resident of Colonie, Michele was a dedicated educator and a cherished friend and mentor. She graduated from Marylrose Academy, SUNY Plattsburgh, and The University at Albany. Michele began her teaching career at The Albany Academy for Girls and later served for  two decades as a reading teacher in the South Colonie School District, where she touched the lives of countless students and faculty with her warmth and dedication.

Michele is survived by her siblings: Michael (Diane) McGinn of Slingerlands, Cheryl (Thomas) Earley of Winnabow, NC, and Kimberly (Donald) Scheuer of Niskayuna. She was a devoted and loving aunt to Brandon (Casey) Earley, Kendall Earley, Conor McGinn, Joel (Julia) Carusone, and Jason Carusone, and 4 great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie.  Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing facility for the compassionate care provided to Michele during her stay—especially Uriah Crawford, Kim Curtis, Don Powers, and Anna Gillespie.
