Obituary of James P. Howlan
Colonie - James P. Howlan, 62, died Friday, February 14, 2025 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital. Born in Albany, Jim lived for most of his life in Colonie. He worked for almost 20 years at the Sunset Bowling Alley and since 2009 he has been employed at the Town of Colonie’s Water District. Jim loved bowling and accomplished multiple 300 games. He also enjoyed watching the Yankees, Vikings, Rangers and Notre Dame sports teams when he wasn’t traveling to Disney with his family. Jim was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather and his family meant the world to him.
Jim was the husband of Sharon Ford Howlan, son of Frances Longo Howlan and the late James Howlan; father of James Howlan of Colonie, Ashley Howlan of Albany and Andrew Howlan of Colonie; grandfather of Peter Miller of Rensselaer and Theodore Howlan of Colonie; brother of Peter Howlan of Middletown, Christopher Howlan (Lisa) of Colonie and Joy Tamke (Mark) of MN; brother-in-law of John and Karen Ford of MA, Nancy Mieczkowski of Latham, Gary Mieczkowski of West Sand Lake and David and Anne Ford of Clifton Park. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
As a final act of kindness, Jim was an organ donor, hopefully making a difference for others in society. Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family.
