Joan hosted the best classical guitar society house parties in the days of the Capital District Classical Guitar Society, back in the late 1980s and the 1990s. I am grateful for her inviting me to join with her in doing guitar ensemble, and for introducing me to gamba/cellist player Lisa Nielson and to the Monday Musical Club of Albany. Joan once took my son Thomas and I on a spring hike in the Catskills. I have two of her paintings in my home, and I have a collection of sheet music and historic volumes of Guitar Review which she gifted to me. Joan’s friendship and encouragement has enhanced my life. - Bill Simcoe
