Obituary of Nancy Barrowman
Gloversville - Nancy Jean Barrowman passed away on September 15, 2017 after a brief illness surrounded by family and caretakers as she peacefully entered into eternal life. Nancy was born on January 26, 1951 in Albany. She was raised in Voorheesville until the age of 8. At that time, Nancy became a resident in several locations under the care provided by various NYS Programs for people with Developmental Disabilities.
Nancy was the daughter of the late Margaret Fryer Barrowman and Clarence Ray Barrowman. She is survived by her three brothers, Raymond Barrowman of Guilderland, Paul (Sharon Meeker) Barrowman of Voorheesville, and Roger (Theresa) Barrowman, M.D. of Glenmont; her nephews, Benjamin, Robert, and William Barrowman; her niece, Bethany Keller and her special cousins, Donna Lee Quinn and Susan Draeger.
Nancy will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her happy laughter and the joy she felt in the company of family, friends and caregivers. She loved music, movies, animals, jewelry, dolls, food, and outings to lakes and parks. She will be dearly missed.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation for the care and compassion rendered to Nancy by all of her many caregivers, especially Joanne Raffiani at LeFevre House in Coeymans and Amanda Bruyn and her staff at the Lexington Mountain View II residence in Gloversville.
A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home in Voorheesville. Nancy will be interred with her parents at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands following the service. In lieu of flowers, a tribute gift may be made in Nancy Barrowman’s honor to the Center for Disability Services, 314 South Manning Boulevard, Albany, New York 12208.
