Voorheesville - Warren W. Schlickenrieder, Sr. passed away at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s on 12/03/16 with his loving family by his side. Born in the Bronx, he was the son of the late William and Anna Barcel Schlickenrieder. Warren was predeceased by his wife, Virginia, his brother, Randolph, and sister, Anita Emberton. He is survived by his daughters Lynn Sullivan of Raleigh, NC, Lauren Cox-Fazio (Frank) of Slingerlands, NY, Lee Edwards (Robert) of Brooksville, FL, a son, Warren Schlickenrieder, Jr. of Voorheesville, NY, his grandchildren Robert Warren Edwards of Hudson, FL, John Robert Cox, Jr. (Rebecka) of Duanesburg, NY, and Kyle Raymond Cox (Alyssa) of Guilderland, NY and great-grandson, Cameron John Cox. He is also survived by his brother, William Schlickenrieder (Barbara) of Cary, NC and several nieces and nephews. Warren attended Manhattan College where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. He spent 2-1/2 years in the military, serving 11 months overseas. Warren was employed by the NYS Dept. of Health for over 40 years. His first assignment was in Middletown, NY after which he was transferred to serve as District Engineer in Saranac Lake, NY where he lived and worked for 15 years. He was then transferred to Albany where he worked with the Dept. of Health and Environmental Conservation. While in Albany, he represented NYS on the Sewerage Works Standards Committee of the Great Lakes-Upper Mississippi River Board of State Sanitary Engineers for many years. Warren was a lifetime member of the NY Water Environmental Association. Warren was an avid sports enthusiast. In addition to playing baseball and basketball in college, he also played minor league baseball for the Cherokees of Kingsport, TN Appalachian league. He also enjoyed bowling, softball, golf and tennis and was often seen at the TU Center whenever Manhattan came into town to play. Warren was also member of the New Scotland Kiwanis where he served as president and also as secretary. Funeral services will be 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2016 from the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Voorheesville and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Church, 25 Mountain View St., Voorheesville. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial contribution to St. Matthew’s Church in Voorheesville or the New Scotland Kiwanis.
