Obituary of Robert E. Newell

Colonie - Newell, Robert E. (Bob), 60, passed away unexpectedly at his home in the Village of Colonie on October 30, 2016. Bob was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and grew up in Troy, NY. He was the son of the late Linnea Newell. Bob is survived by the love of his life, Terri Schillaci, having spent 27 wonderful years together. Bob is also survived by his sisters, Roberta Newell and Michelle Diaz; niece Holley Newell; nephew Eddie Diaz (Nicole); grandniece Taiana; and Goddaughter Elizabeth Stofelano. Bob attended Troy High School and had a long time career in the restaurant and hospitality business in upstate NY. In his early years, Bob was a salesman in the Southern Tier at the former Sofco. Bob worked in the Albany area since 1987 in a variety of positions in the beverage industry. Most recently, he was a sales and service technician at Carbonic Sales and Service. Bob was known as the guy who could fix anything, and will be remembered for his personable ways. He was known to many as the friendly go-to guy. Bob was a member of the Clifton Park Sportsmen’s Club Rod and Gun Club for 25 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the sunny, warm outdoors. Bob and Terri enjoyed traveling together in their motorhome and recently enjoyed the splendors of Alaska. Bob enjoyed spending time with his friends at the West Albany FD and recently joined the dart club. He will be missed by many. Calling hours will be held at Reilly and Son Funeral Home, Colonie on Thursday, November 3 from 4:30 to 6:30. Friends and family are invited to join in remembering Bob on Friday, November 4 at 10 am at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at Memory Gardens immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colonie EMS, Village of Colonie FD or a charity of your choice.
