Voorheesville - Janet “Jazzy” Gauthier passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the Teresian
House Nursing Home in Albany. Daughter of the late Elder and Laura Germaine Butchino, she was born in Saranac, NY on April 23, 1931. She was predeceased by her sister, Marie LeClair; brother, Elder Butchino; and nephew, Bobby LeClair.
Jazzy retired from the Vilas Home in Plattsburgh, NY in 1995 and at that time relocated to Voorheesville to live with her daughter Robin and her family. Jazzy was a huge Syracuse University fan and loved watching all college basketball, enjoyed reading and knitting and visiting the Carmelite Nuns in Beacon, NY.
Jazzy is survived by her daughter, Robin Liberty (Robert) of Voorheesville; grandchildren, Jordan Liberty of Krakow, Poland and Lauren Liberty of Albany, NY; niece, Maxine Brooks (Larry) of Lagrangeville, NY; great-nephews, Josh and Larry Brooks, Jr.; and many other nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2016 at St. Matthew’s Church, Mountainview St., Voorheesville. In lieu of flowers, Jazzy’s family requests that contributions be made to the Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 So. Pearl St., Albany, NY 12202 or the Carmelite Nuns, 89 Hidden Brooke Dr., Beacon, NY 12508.
