Obituary of Frank H. Budlong

Voorheesville - Frank H. Budlong, 96, of Voorheesville died Sunday, September 13, 2015 at the Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland. Born in Pittsfield, MA, Frank was the son of the late Carrie Halloway and Frank Budlong. Frank grew up in Canaan,NY and was a 1937 graduate of Rensselaer High School. He served as a Warrant Officer in the United States Army during World War II in both the Mediterranean and North African Theatres. Frank began working as a Fireman with New York Central Rail Road and continued his career as a Locomotive Engineer for Penn Central and Conrail before his retirement. He was the District F. Chairman for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers in Colonie and Vice President for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers for the southwestern part of the United States in Houston, TX. Frank was also an avid golfer and enjoyed photography. Frank was the husband of the late Dorothy Bettinger Budlong; stepfather of Larry Dailey (Nancy) of Clifton Park and the late Todd Dailey; brother of Theresa McTague of Cape Vincent, NY and the late Elizabeth Giacomini, Mildred Marlowe and Carrie, Donald, George and Bernice Budlong. He is also survived by several step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Voorheesville. Burial will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
