West Albany - Michael J. Scaringe, Sr., 100, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a short illness. Born in Albany, Michael was the son of the late Antonio and Rosemary Salanicio Scaringe. He lived most of his life in Albany, moved to Largo, FL for 20 years and recently moved back to the Capital District. Michael was a Master Craftsman and was a member of Local # 370 in Albany for more than 70 years. His proudest accomplishment is that he was chosen to refurbish the rail road car of President Franklin D. Roosevelt which is now on display at a museum in Florida. He was a life member and the oldest member of the West Albany Italian Benevolent Society and had been a member of the former St. Francis de Sales Church in Colonie. Michael was the husband of the late Martha A. Connell Scaringe; father of Marilyn Graves of Clifton Park, Mickey Short (Fred) of Ballston Lake, Michael J. Scaringe, Jr. of St. Petersburg, FL, Anthony M. Scaringe (Mary) of Fayetteville, NY, Raymond N. Scaringe (Lisa) of Clifton Park, Michelle Pirro (Mike) of Acworth, GA and Joan Monson (Roger) of Lancaster, PA; brother of Rose Nenni of West Albany and the late Peter, Paul, Carmen, George and Nunzio Scaringe, Anne Stellato, Antoinette Cross, Josephine Levitto, Teresa Curione and Emily Ramundo. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and good friends. Funeral 9:00 o’clock Saturday morning from the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie and at 10:00 o’clock at Christ Our Light Church, 1 Maria Dr., Loudonville. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
